The Idea Behind Icarus
We didn't just set out to create a brand we set out to empower a community. When we started IPG we were like many of you who are reading this now, tired of being uncomfortable well pursuing the passions that drive us. Cotton clothing wasn't cutting it. It was hot and it never dried. On the other hand, many performance fabrics felt like being in a sauna or covered in plastic film all day. We were sweating it out in the sun and the shirts designed to keep us cool were refusing to wick away the built-up moisture. Thus, Icarus was born. In Greek mythology Icarus, although accomplishing the great feat of flying, pushes the boundaries with the sun eventually melting his wings sending him crashing back to reality. A feeling that was all too familiar. Feeling a connection, we thought what a better name than Icarus. Here we have started our brand with a small team hailing from around the globe and opposite ends of the earth with one goal in mind, to allow everyone to enjoy the outdoors. We strive to create the gear you need to perform your best. whether that's battling the elements at sea chasing the fish of a lifetime, adventuring in the grand landscapes of the back country, or just trying not to melt well working around the house. Our goal is to allow you to pursue what makes you feel alive while feeling connected to the world around you so you can find your wings and soar.
